“Our battered suitcases were piled on the sidewalk again; we had longer ways to go. But no matter, the road is life.”
– Jack Kerouac, On the Road
Tomorrow Amne and I are leaving on a road trip. We are leaving Seattle and going to:
2. Mt. Shasta
3. Napa Valley
4. Santa Cruz
5. San Francisco
6. Fort Bragg
7. Crescent City (Redwoods)
8. The Oregon Coast
So, the trip was awesome. Very long but great. It was great exploring parts of the country that are so close to my hometown. I also valued the fact that I was living mostly outdoors in a tent the majority of the time (or at least outside). I have to say I was very impressed by the beauty of the Oregon Coast in general. I could literally gaze at the waves breaking on the shoreline all day, it’s the best.
In California, Santa Cruz was the coolest. Our campsite sat on a cliff overlooking the the Monterrey Bay. When we went down to check out the beach we even saw a seal poking its head out and I got busted by a patrolman for drinking one beer (I got some sympathy from some ladies chilling at the beach though).
All in all it was a great experience that I highly recommend to college students especially, because this all of your free time you have right now will go away once you get a job (which is a shame). And for people are in the workforce: find time to do things like this, I don’t know how but one can’t wait for a two weeks vacation to see your country up close and on the road.
